1. Create a daily log

Click Daily Log in the sidebar. Click New Log.

Polier pre-fills two things automatically:

  • Today's date
  • Current weather at your project location — temperature, conditions, and precipitation

You just need to fill in what happened on site.

Tip: Create the log at the end of the day or during your last site walk. The date and weather are already there — it takes about 3 minutes to complete.

2. Fill in the sections

The daily log has structured sections. Fill in what's relevant — you don't need to complete every section every day:

  • Work completed — what was done today, free text, can be as detailed as needed
  • Manpower — number of workers on site by trade (e.g. bricklayers: 4, electricians: 2)
  • Equipment — plant and machinery present on site
  • Delays — anything that affected progress today (weather, missing materials, outstanding RFI responses)
  • Safety notes — incidents, toolbox talks, inspections, near misses
  • Visitors — client visits, inspector visits, planned deliveries
  • Photos — site progress photos attached directly to this log entry
Tip: Even a minimal log — work completed and manpower counts — builds a valuable audit trail over time. A partial log beats no log every time.

3. Attach photos

In the log entry, tap or click the Add Photos button. Select photos from your camera roll or take a new photo directly from the app.

Photos attached to a daily log entry appear in the Daily Log Report PDF export, displayed under the relevant log entry with the date and any captions you add.

4. Let multiple people contribute

A Project Editor, Site Manager, or Contributor can all add to the same day's log. They all see the same log entry and can fill in their section without overwriting anyone else's work.

A common pattern across site teams:

  • Site manager fills in Manpower and Work Completed
  • Foreman adds Photos
  • Safety officer adds Safety Notes
Tip: Tap Save after each change on mobile. Polier auto-saves every 30 seconds, but an explicit save prevents loss if you switch apps or lose signal.

5. Export as PDF

Go to Reports in the sidebar. Click New Report and select Daily Log Report. Choose your date range and click Generate.

The exported PDF includes:

  • Project name and date range in the header
  • Each day's log in chronological order
  • Weather conditions per day
  • Manpower totals
  • Photos placed under the relevant log entry
  • Your company logo, if set in Organisation Settings under Branding
